Sync Changes
The Component Design asset keeps track of GameObjects, scene objects, and prefabs that use its generated component. When you edit the design, the Sync Changes button becomes available.
Click Sync Changes to apply the latest design to every registered instance in the project. This includes matching GameObjects in open scenes, saved scenes, and prefabs. Syncing is needed after you change a component or instruction in the ScriptableObject and want those changes on the GameObjects that use it.
Sync updates components that are still controlled by the design. It does not overwrite components marked as overrides.
Overrides
Overrides let one GameObject behave slightly differently from the shared design. An override is created when you change a component directly on that GameObject after it was generated or synchronized. The Host inspector shows an override color and a Reset Overrides button for that component.
To reset an override:
- Open the Host inspector.
- Click Reset Overrides on the component.
The component is restored from the Component Design asset and can receive future Sync Changes again.
When Sync Does Not Update a Component
Check the Host inspector for an override. Reset it before syncing. Also check that:
- The component entry is enabled.
- The component has a saved template snapshot.
