Aim Assist Target
Aim Assist Target helps the player aim at an object, like an enemy. When the crosshair comes close, the view slows down a little and is pulled gently towards the target. It is an assist, not a lock: the pull only happens while the player looks around or moves, so the view never turns on its own.
Add it from Add Component > Game Creator > Full Body Awareness Controller > Aim Assist Target.
Settings
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Point | Self | The game object the view is pulled to. A Character is assisted towards its chest. Any other object towards its position. |
| Offset | (0, 0, 0) | Offset from the point, in local space. |
| Strength | 1 | Strength of the assist, from 0 to 1. 0 turns it off. |
| Radius | 0.6 | Size of the area around the point where the assist works, in meters. Far targets get a smaller area on screen. |
| Max Distance | 60 | The farthest distance where the assist works, in meters. |
| Slowdown | 0.4 | How much the view slows down over the target, from 0 to 1. |
| Pull | 4 | How fast the view is pulled towards the point while moving or looking. |
| Only While Aiming | Off | Only assists while aiming down sights. |
| Require Line Of Sight | On | Ignores the target when something blocks the view. |
| Blocking Layers | Default | Layers that block the view. |
Every setting except Offset and Blocking Layers is a Game Creator property. Inside them, Self is the target and Target is the player looking at it.
Tips
- For an options menu, point every target's Strength at one global variable, for example
Aim Assist, and let the player change it. Set it to0for players who want no assist. - When several targets are near the crosshair, the one closest to the center wins.
- Selecting a target shows its assist area as a sphere in the Scene view.
